About the role#
James Moore & Co. offers paid accounting internships for students pursuing degrees in accounting or finance. Interns work directly on client projects across audit, tax, and accounting controllership services. These roles provide hands-on experience in a professional setting while allowing for flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to actual client projects and use accounting software for data entry, task management, and documentation.
- Assist with day-to-day functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and other transactions.
- Perform audit procedures across various financial statement areas, including cash, inventory, fixed assets, debt, and accrued expenses.
- Propose adjusting journal entries and apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Prepare individual and business income tax returns for partnerships and corporations.
- Support experienced staff with complex client files and large tax engagements.
- Organize and maintain files while reviewing forms for accuracy.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and research accounting topics.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Detail-oriented approach with problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technical platforms.
- Successful completion or enrollment in Tax I, Audit I, or equivalent coursework is preferred.

- Location: Tallahassee, Florida.
- Modality: On-site.
- Availability: Winter, Summer, and Fall 2027 terms.
- Time commitment: At least 20 hours per week, with a minimum of 4 hours per day.
- Employment type: Part-time, paid internship.
- Note: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
