About the role#
BCI is seeking a Transactions & Total Portfolio Risk intern for the Winter 2027 term. You will work within the Investment Strategy & Risk department, specifically supporting the Transactions & Total Portfolio Risk team. This role offers exposure to risk management processes for both public and private markets, helping to monitor and evaluate the long-term strategies of our clients.
What you'll do#
- Perform industry and company research across private equity, infrastructure, and private credit.
- Assist in the production of risk assessments for potential new investments.
- Support the team with what-if analysis for new deals, products, or instruments.
- Develop and produce risk dashboards for asset classes and the total BCI fund.
- Help validate and document data procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Provide support in responding to requests from other teams and departments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a graduate program, such as Risk Management, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or Business.
- A cumulative GPA of B+ or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using Claude Code or similar AI coding tools.
- Familiarity with various financial instruments.
- Relevant prior co-op experience at a bank or investment firm.
- Ability to gather and process large amounts of data and present findings concisely.
- Participation in a student investment club or investment case competitions.
- Strong work ethic, analytical skills, and a high level of professionalism.
- A commitment to ethical standards and an eagerness to learn.
Location & details#
- Location: Victoria, British Columbia.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January to April).
- Modality: Hybrid (in-person at the Victoria office with the option to work from home one day per week).
- Employment: Full time.
- Compensation: $2,330.00 gross bi-weekly, plus vacation pay at 6% of salary.
