About the role#
BCI is seeking a Performance & Analytics co-op student for the Winter 2027 term, running from January to April. You will join the Finance department in Victoria to support the measurement and analysis of investment performance across public and private market strategies. This role provides exposure to the tools and methodologies used by institutional investors to evaluate investment returns and support fiduciary oversight.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Performance & Analytics branch with daily and monthly tasks, project work, and performance reporting.
- Collect, organize, and analyze performance data to support team deliverables.
- Create weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to visualize performance results and communicate findings.
- Automate and improve existing processes by recommending new solutions.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with other internal groups.
- Complete ad-hoc projects as assigned by the team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a program related to Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science.
- Fundamental knowledge of business and investment disciplines.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and a commitment to ethical standards.
- Experience with Python, SQL, VBA, Bloomberg, Power BI, or AI tools is considered an asset.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position located in Victoria, British Columbia.
- The work is primarily on-site, with an option to work from home one day per week.
- A fixed-rate travel allowance is available if you are relocating to Victoria for the work term.
- Compensation is $2,330.00 gross bi-weekly, or $2,155.00 gross bi-weekly plus 6% vacation pay, depending on education level.
