About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to gain a broad understanding of investment industry operations and financial market transactions. You will work within the Investment Operations team in Victoria to support trade settlement, manage corporate actions, and assist with daily cash flows. This role is open for the Winter 2027 term, running from January to April.
What you'll do#
- Monitor, review, reconcile, and analyze a high volume of financial transactions to ensure timely and efficient trade settlement across all asset classes.
- Support pooled accounts, individual accounts, portfolio managers, and various internal departments.
- Work under the supervision of the Associate, Settlements, to assist with specific projects and team initiatives.
- Identify and resolve inefficiencies in current settlement processes.
- Develop knowledge of internal systems and facilitate departmental initiatives.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with team members and operational personnel.
What you'll need#
- A fundamental knowledge of finance, business, and investment-related disciplines.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and Power BI, including the ability to use complex formulas and macros.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Capacity to work effectively in a close, interdependent team environment while meeting tight deadlines.
- Professionalism, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to high ethical standards.
- An interest in operational investment management and an eagerness to learn.
- Previous work experience or exposure to capital markets is preferred, and Bloomberg experience is considered an asset.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Finance or Business Administration.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Victoria, British Columbia.
- The role is full-time and requires on-site attendance, with the option to work from home one day per week.
- This is a paid position.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
