About the role#
The Strategic Asset Allocation (Global Macro) co-op provides an opportunity to support the research and analysis that guides long-term investment strategy. You will work within the Investment Strategy & Risk department, gaining experience across three primary workstreams: Global Macro, Asset Liability Management, and Client Relations. This role focuses on applying academic knowledge to real-world investment topics, including capital markets and performance analysis.
What you'll do#
- Research macroeconomic topics such as monetary policy, inflation, and geopolitical risk.
- Produce recurring macro data summaries and assist with Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions.
- Translate complex analysis into clear materials for senior investment and executive audiences.
- Support quarterly scenario modelling and maintain monitoring frameworks.
- Build and maintain quantitative analysis using Python, Excel, and econometric software.
- Develop dashboards in Power BI.
- Prepare reports and presentations for client meetings.
- Assist with client education materials.
- Follow all compliance and risk management policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for economics, financial mathematics, quantitative finance, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Solid understanding of macroeconomics, financial markets, and monetary policy.
- Experience gathering and processing large datasets for concise presentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Prior co-op experience is preferred.
- A high level of professionalism and a strong work ethic.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027 (January to April).
- Location: Victoria, British Columbia.
- Modality: On-site with the option to work from home one day per week.
- Compensation: $2,330.00 gross bi-weekly plus 6% vacation pay.
- Travel: A fixed-rate travel allowance is provided for those relocating to Victoria.
