About the role#
BCI is hiring Finance co-op students and interns for work terms starting in Winter, Summer, and Fall 2027. These full-time roles support our Finance department, which manages investment and corporate accounting, valuation, financial reporting, and tax compliance. You will work within one of our specialized teams: Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis, Investment Accounting, Financial Reporting, Valuations, or Tax.
What you'll do#
Depending on your assigned team, your responsibilities may include:
- Prepare and present monthly financial results and analysis.
- Collaborate with internal departments on budget and forecast updates.
- Review monthly accruals, reclassifications, and assist with month-end close.
- Validate and analyze net asset values of investment structures.
- Review and reconcile daily net asset valuations across all asset classes.
- Assist in the preparation of audited annual financial statements and respond to audit enquiries.
- Perform daily price verification for Fixed Income and Public Equity securities.
- Review valuations prepared by investment teams or external valuators.
- Report on drivers of changes in value at an investment level.
- Prepare tax forms and materials for management.
- Support indirect tax filings, including GST and PST.
- Collect and interpret historical data for tax filings.
- Document and perform key internal controls.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting requests and deliverables to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related area, with preference for students in their 3rd year or higher.
- Fundamental understanding of accounting principles and a good understanding of finance.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to manage competing priorities with a high level of professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good Excel skills and an aptitude for learning new systems and tools.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
- Preference for candidates with an understanding of the investment industry.
