About the role#
The Liquidity and Counterparty Risk Management team sits within the Investment Risk branch of BCI. You will report to a Senior Analyst and support the measurement and management of liquidity, leverage, and counterparty risks across the portfolio. This role provides an opportunity to apply research and analytical skills to real-world investment subjects while working alongside teams in Strategic Asset Allocation, Total Fund Management, and Investment Operations.
What you'll do#
- Understand and challenge how liquidity risk is interpreted across asset classes, investment mandates, and financial instruments.
- Support the identification and monitoring of counterparty risks.
- Contribute to the enhancement of private markets capital call and distribution models.
- Support fundamental credit analysis for financial institutions such as banks and brokers.
- Enhance forward-looking liquidity models and their integration into client asset allocation processes.
- Prepare and modernize periodic reports for the department and management teams.
- Assist in integrating AI and LLM tools to streamline existing processes.
- Handle ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- A degree in finance, economics, commerce, statistics, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Sound working knowledge of Excel, Python, and SQL.
- An interest in investment risk management and a passion for the industry.
- Dedication to hard work and the highest ethical standards.
- Familiarity with Agentic AI tools, derivative instruments, fixed-income analysis, data engineering, or systems like Bloomberg and Capital IQ is considered an asset.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Victoria, British Columbia.
- The work modality is on-site with the option to work one day per week from home.
- Available terms include Winter 2027 (January to April) or Winter and Summer 2027 (January to August).
- This is a paid, full-time position.
