    About the role#

    BCI is seeking two co-op students or interns for the Winter 2027 work term, running from January to April. You will join our corporate ESG group to provide research and support across various asset classes. Successful candidates will work in one of two streams: ESG Integration & Research or ESG Total Fund Strategy & Risk. This role offers exposure to the investment process, allowing you to contribute quantitative and qualitative solutions to our ESG integration efforts.

    What you'll do#

    • Research and analyze ESG risks and opportunities within the BCI portfolio and the broader investment universe.
    • Build and maintain financial models and economic scenarios to assess long-term systemic risk impacts.
    • Collect, organize, and analyze ESG data to support investment recommendations and company engagements.
    • Conduct research on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
    • Develop and maintain Python-based data pipelines and analytical workflows for data ingestion and cleaning.
    • Apply quantitative techniques such as regression analysis, factor research, and scenario modelling to ESG research questions.
    • Construct and improve data visualization tools to support the investment process.
    • Support day-to-day team activities, including meeting documentation, process streamlining, and ad-hoc research tasks.

    What you'll need#

    • A fundamental knowledge of business, financial statements, and investment-related disciplines.
    • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a drive to learn about economics and financial markets.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with advanced Excel skills.
    • Working proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy) and SQL is strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to use AI and LLM tools effectively in research and coding workflows.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written forms.
    • Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
    • Familiarity with the following is an asset: Bloomberg, Databricks/PySpark, Plotly/Dash, Git, BI tools, ESG data providers, climate scenario frameworks, financial modelling, and additional languages.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Victoria, British Columbia.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (January to April).
    • Modality: This position is on-site in Victoria with the option to work one day per week from home.
    • Compensation: This is a paid position with a bi-weekly salary of $2,745.00 plus 6% vacation pay. A fixed-rate travel allowance is provided for those relocating to Victoria.
