About the role#
Join the lab team this semester to assist with electronics testing for the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. This is a hands-on role contributing to a major international physics experiment. We provide all necessary laboratory and safety training, so no prior experience is required. The workload is flexible and tasks fit into short blocks between your regular classes.
What you'll do#
- Unpack incoming boxes and pack finalized printed circuit boards (PCBs) for shipment.
- Sort and organize PCBs, and scan barcodes on PCBs and computer chips.
- Operate specialized equipment, including a laser engraver.
- Depanel, connect, and disconnect PCBs.
- Use custom software to perform automated tests of each PCB.
- Follow safety procedures and wear mandatory Personal Protective Equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, N95 masks, and anti-static bracelets.
- Assist with maintaining lab equipment and managing laboratory inventory or supplies.
- Help with documentation, research reports, and analyzing data or interpreting results.
- Participate in carrying out experiments and perform general laboratory functions.
- Comply with University policies and maintain regular, punctual attendance.

- You must be a currently enrolled Baylor undergraduate student.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Waco, Texas, at the Baylor Science Building.
- The role is part-time, requiring 10 hours per week during the Fall 2026 semester.
- The pay rate is $10 per hour.
