About the role#
This position supports World Hunger Relief at Spring Lake Farm. You will assist with community outreach, farm operations, and educational programming. This is a part-time role that requires an individual who works well independently and within a team.
What you'll do#
- Educate and train volunteers and clients on composting, sustainable agriculture, food justice, and hunger alleviation.
- Assist with community outreach and educational programs both on the farm and in the community.
- Manage administrative duties and routine farm errands.
- Handle Farmers Market preparation and staffing.
- Maintain the Urban Homestead Garden and clean or organize facilities.
- Provide customer service and lead group orientations.
- Perform compost pickups and sorting as needed.
What you'll need#
- Strong communication skills and the ability to organize tasks.
- A great attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks without being micromanaged.
- Capacity to educate visitors of all ages about food systems and sustainable alternatives.
- Experience facilitating volunteer and group learning.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs routinely.
- Previous office or educational experience is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas (Spring Lake Farm).
- Schedule: 8 to 20 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, with occasional Saturdays.
- Pay: $12.00 per hour.
- Status: Part-time, paid position.
