About the role#
This position supports elementary students with their reading skills and homework. You will work with community partners to help students reach their academic goals. This role is open to Federal Work Study students only.
What you'll do#
- Assist students with reading and homework assignments.
- Complete detailed service logs for each student.
- Attend periodic meetings and professional training sessions.
- Coordinate with the CIS Volunteer Director on scheduling and program implementation.
- Maintain positive relationships with students and staff.
- Keep accurate documentation and follow district policies.
- Represent the University while providing customer service to community partners.
- Assist with community programs and outreach projects as needed.
- Ensure all student information remains confidential.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Baylor University.
- Federal Work Study eligibility.
- Proficiency in Spanish.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- A professional appearance.
- The ability to work in diverse situations and travel to the work site.
- Completion of a criminal background check.
- Reliable attendance and adherence to University policies.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Work Modality: On-site at Communities in Schools of the Heart of Texas.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
