    About the role#

    This is a part-time Research and Teaching Assistant position based at the American University campus in Washington, DC. You will support faculty members by balancing instructional duties, grading, and academic research tasks. This role is open only to currently enrolled American University students.

    What you'll do#

    • Prepare course materials such as lecture notes, assignments, and exams.
    • Lead tutorials, workshops, or lab sessions for students.
    • Answer student questions and provide academic guidance.
    • Grade assignments and exams while providing constructive feedback.
    • Maintain records for student attendance and grades.
    • Assist professors with ongoing research, including literature reviews, data collection, and analysis.
    • Help prepare research for publication or presentation.
    • Coordinate academic events, seminars, and workshops.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a student at American University.
    • Good academic standing with a strong GPA.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to explain complex topics clearly.
    • Knowledge of research methods and data analysis.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Interpersonal skills for working with students, faculty, and staff.
    • Previous research experience is a plus.

    • Location: Washington, DC (On-site).
    • Schedule: Part-time, 10 hours per week.
    • Term: Rolling.
    • Compensation: $18.40 per hour.
