About the role#
The Physics Faculty Support role provides instructional and academic assistance within the College of Arts & Sciences. This position is open only to currently enrolled undergraduate students at American University. It is a part-time role requiring 2 to 4 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist faculty with instruction, labs, and grading for physics courses.
- Help peers during class time and provide additional academic support.
- Run weekly office hours to assist students with coursework and tutoring.
- Grade homework assignments and quizzes.
- Support general department events and tutoring initiatives.
- Help with lecture or lab activities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at American University.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong academic record and a sense of responsibility.
- Excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Compensation: $18.40 per hour.
