The Moody Makerspace provides students, faculty, and staff with access to creative tools including 3D printers, laser engravers, vinyl cutters, embroidery machines, and various hand and power tools. As a Maker Mentor, you will oversee the use of this equipment, provide guidance on projects, and foster an encouraging environment for the campus community. This position begins training in Fall 2026.
What you'll do#
- Consult with patrons on making activities for academic and personal projects.
- Train patrons on the use of tools and equipment.
- Facilitate Makerspace orientations, workshops, and trainings.
- Provide customer service and staff the Makerspace during open hours.
- Clean and organize the space according to shift duties.
- Assist with Makerspace functions and events across campus.
- Help train new employees and continuously improve personal familiarity with available equipment.
What you'll need#
- Strong social and communication skills.
- Curiosity and a love of learning.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative.
- A natural inclination toward cleanliness and organization.
- Preferred: Experience with engineering, robotics, design, or shop environments.
Location & details#
- Location: Moody Library, Waco, Texas.
- Schedule: Up to 12 hours per week (with the option for up to 20 hours), organized around your class schedule.
- Pay: $10.00 per hour.
