About the role#
As a Project Safety Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in construction safety management within the heavy civil industry. You will work directly with seasoned construction professionals on multi-million-dollar projects, including highway interchanges, bridges, and infrastructure facilities. This is a paid, full-time, 12-week internship running from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Conduct daily jobsite walkthroughs to identify and report potential safety hazards.
- Assist with safety inspections, audits, and reviews of active heavy civil construction projects.
- Support incident and accident investigations, including collecting information and preparing reports.
- Participate in weekly project safety meetings and assist with meeting documentation.
- Help develop and deliver safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and safety communications.
- Monitor jobsite compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with field personnel and project management to promote a strong safety culture.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a junior or senior college student.
- Progress toward a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Targeted graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week on-site.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship is not available).
