About the role#
Austin Industrial, Inc. offers a Construction Engineering Internship program designed to provide hands-on experience on commercial construction projects. Interns work directly with industry professionals to gain real-world insight into construction management. This is a paid, full-time opportunity available for the Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Summer 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
As a Project Intern, you will support construction operations through the following responsibilities:
- Process submittals by reviewing, filing, and distributing documentation.
- Manage RFIs by sending them to architects and engineers.
- Maintain and update logs for concrete, rebar, RFIs, and project plans.
- Assist with quality control inspections and verify construction techniques against plans and specifications.
- Participate in and document weekly safety meetings.
- Update and distribute construction drawings, shop drawings, and samples.
- Assist with trade contractor coordination, scheduling, and maintaining look-ahead schedules.
- Verify pre-pour checklists and formwork installation.
- Maintain city inspection records and accompany the Superintendent during inspections.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program related to Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Environmental Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Hands-on experience in commercial construction.
- Proficiency with industry-specific software.
- Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with construction project management processes.
