Construction Engineering Internship

About the role#

Austin Commercial offers a paid internship program for students seeking hands-on experience on commercial construction projects. Interns work alongside industry professionals to gain real-world exposure to project management and field operations. The program is available for the Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Summer 2027 terms. This is a full-time, on-site position.

What you'll do#

• Process submittals by reviewing, filing, and distributing documentation.
• Manage RFIs and maintain logs for concrete, rebar, and project plans.
• Assist with quality control inspections and verify pre-pour checklists.
• Participate in and document weekly safety meetings.
• Verify construction techniques against plans and specifications to ensure compliance.
• Assist with trade contractor coordination and project scheduling.
• Support field operations by establishing control points and locating structural elements.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Environmental Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
• Hands-on experience in commercial construction.
• Familiarity with construction project management processes.
• Proficiency with industry-specific software.
• Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills.
