About the role#
Austin Industrial, Inc. is seeking interns for the 2027 Summer Heavy Civil Engineering Internship Program. This 12-week, full-time, paid program provides hands-on experience on heavy civil construction projects. Interns will work directly with construction professionals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, gaining exposure to project planning, safety protocols, and technical software.
What you'll do#
- Process submittals by reviewing, stamping, filing, and distributing documents.
- Send RFIs to architects and engineers.
- Assist with maintaining project schedules and look-ahead plans.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings and record meeting minutes.
- Engage in hands-on training with construction management software and tools.
- Update and distribute construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Assist with trade contractor coordination and project orientation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior or senior student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Targeted graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week.
- Valid driver's license.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work analytically and collaborate within project teams.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
