About the role#
The 2027 Summer Heavy Civil Engineering Internship provides students with hands-on experience on multi-million-dollar construction projects. Interns work directly with seasoned construction professionals to gain real-world insight into the heavy civil and transportation industry. This is a paid, 12-week, full-time program running from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Process submittals by reviewing, stamping, filing, and distributing documents.
- Send RFIs to architects and engineers.
- Assist with maintaining project schedules and look-ahead plans.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings and record meeting minutes.
- Engage in hands-on training with construction management software and tools.
- Support documentation and reporting, including updating construction drawings and specifications.
- Assist with trade contractor coordination and project planning.
What you'll need#
- Active junior or senior status in a bachelor's degree program for Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field.
- Targeted graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week.
- Valid driver's license.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to think analytically and work effectively within project teams.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
