About the role#
Austin Industrial is seeking a Project Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time internship based in Sugar Land, Texas. As a Project Intern, you will work alongside seasoned construction professionals on active heavy civil projects. You will receive mentorship and gain exposure to project engineering, construction management, and field operations.
What you'll do#
- Process submittals by reviewing, stamping, filing, and distributing documents.
- Send RFI’s to architects and engineers.
- Resolve problems identified in plans and specifications.
- Update and distribute construction drawings, shop drawings, and samples.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings and write meeting minutes.
- Lead project orientation and maintain project logs.
- Assist with trade contractor coordination and project scheduling.
- Verify construction techniques against project plans and specifications.
- Engage in hands-on training with construction management software.
- Participate in team meetings and client interactions.
- Support documentation and reporting processes.
What you'll need#
- Active junior or senior status in a bachelor's degree program for Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Targeted graduation date between August 2027 and December 2028.
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Analytical thinking and the ability to present ideas professionally.
- Ability to work effectively in project teams.
- Legal authorization to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship.
