About the role#
ECC is looking for a student to join our construction team in Honolulu for the summer of 2027. This role provides hands-on experience with project engineering, field operations, quality management, and construction execution. You will work on a major military construction project and receive mentorship from our experienced professionals. This internship is intended for those interested in pursuing a full-time career in construction after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Support the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Quality Control staff with daily construction tasks.
- Assist with field inspections and project documentation.
- Manage RFIs and submittals.
- Attend client and subcontractor meetings, including preparing meeting minutes.
- Help with project tracking, reporting, and schedule updates.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and manage site logistics.
- Maintain project records and electronic filing systems.
- Monitor the site for adherence to safety and quality requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Teams, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others in a field-based environment.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to obtain a military base pass.
- A clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- An interest in international construction and a long-term interest in a construction career.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Honolulu, Hawaii.
- The role is on-site and full-time, at 40 hours per week.
- The internship runs from May to August 2027.
- The hourly rate is $25.00. Travel and lodging are provided by ECC, depending on the project location.
