About the role#
Austin Industrial, Inc. is hiring a Project Intern for a full-time, paid internship during the Winter 2027 term. You will work on-site at heavy civil construction projects, gaining experience under the guidance of seasoned construction professionals. This role involves active participation in project management, field operations, and safety protocols.
What you'll do#
- Process submittals by reviewing, stamping, filing, and distributing documents.
- Send RFI’s to architects and engineers.
- Resolve problems related to plans and specifications.
- Update and distribute construction drawings, shop drawings, and samples.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings and write meeting minutes.
- Lead project orientation and maintain logs.
- Assist with trade contractor coordination, scheduling, and project look ahead schedules.
- Verify construction techniques meet project plans and specifications.
- Use construction management software and tools for hands-on training.
- Participate in team meetings and client interactions.
- Support documentation and reporting processes to ensure accurate project records.
- Perform other tasks as defined by the Project Manager or Superintendent.
What you'll need#
- Active status as a junior or senior college student.
- Progress toward a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field.
- Targeted graduation date between August 2027 and December 2028.
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week.
- Valid driver's license.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Analytical thinking and the ability to present ideas professionally.
- Ability to work effectively in project teams.
- Legal authorization to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship.
