About the role#
Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation is seeking a Civil Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time, on-site position is based in Little Rock, Arkansas. You will work within our Engineering department to support power production and delivery projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with projects involving substation facilities, transmission lines, hydroelectric generation, and control systems.
- Use engineering software to design, analyze, and model data for our members.
- Support procurement and contracting tasks for equipment, materials, and construction labor.
- Travel to various locations across Arkansas with staff to collect field data.
- Manage and organize department drawings and documents to meet record standards.
- Help with process mapping and database development.
- Support engineers, analysts, and technicians with daily operations.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or related degree program.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience with CAD and ESRI GIS software.
- Willingness to work in challenging weather conditions during field activities.
- Prior experience in an electric utility is a plus.
