About the role#
The Portfolio Optimization Intern supports the Planning and Market Operations Division. You will contribute to process improvement, data analytics, and optimization strategies for load and generation. This role involves working with the electric power market operations team to provide analysis and operational support. You must be able to maintain regular attendance and work outside of standard office hours when necessary to support reliable electric service.
What you'll do#
- Collect, validate, and analyze data for load forecasting, generation planning, and market operations.
- Create analytics-ready data sets.
- Support optimization modeling for portfolio planning and economic dispatch.
- Perform analytical reviews of current strategies and forecasts.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical tools for decision-making.
- Build business intelligence reports.
- Identify and implement more efficient workflows.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Data Analytics.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to write technical documentation and communicate clearly.
- Experience with data analysis and modeling tools such as SQL, Python, R, or Excel.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
