About the role#
Amrize is seeking a Health & Safety Intern for the summer of 2027. This 10-week, paid position is based at our Alpena Cement Plant. You will gain hands-on experience in the construction industry while contributing to our safety initiatives and operational standards.
What you'll do#
- Ensure plant personnel and contractors follow safe operating procedures.
- Revitalize, update, and relaunch current safety programs.
- Spend time in the field interacting with employees to fine-tune safety protocols.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts for safety initiatives.
- Inspect field equipment to ensure proper operation and report any issues.
- Perform troubleshooting, quality testing, and necessary documentation.
- Manage assigned projects from initial planning through completion.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, database systems, and analytics.
- A willingness to work in the field to learn the business firsthand.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Strong relationship-building skills and attention to detail.
- A track record of teamwork, adaptability, initiative, and integrity.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Location & details#
- Location: Alpena, Michigan.
- Modality: On-site, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Term: Summer 2027, beginning June 1, 2027.
- Transportation: Interns are responsible for their own transportation to the worksite.
- Note: Some travel for site tours or intern events may be required.
