About the role#
As a Quality Control Co-Op Student at Amrize, you will perform physical testing on concrete and aggregates. This role involves working directly with production teams to ensure materials meet technical standards. You will support our quality assurance processes while gaining hands-on experience in the construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Perform testing on plastic and hardened concrete, including sampling, temperature checks, slump, air content, density, yield, and compressive strength.
- Conduct aggregate testing such as sieve analysis, fineness modulus, decant, and moisture content.
- Ensure all testing procedures follow CSA and ASTM standards.
- Input and review test results accurately.
- Assist in planning and scheduling regular materials testing.
- Collaborate with other precasters and Amrize teams.
- Promote safety standards and adhere to all health and environmental policies.
- Look for ways to improve operational efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Engineering program, preferably in Civil, Structural, or Construction Management.
- Interest in pursuing a long-term career in engineering and construction with a goal to obtain a P. Eng. designation.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong communication, organization, and planning skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Experience in the precast industry or quality control is preferred.
- Familiarity with ACI testing and certification is an asset.
- Willingness to follow all safety protocols, including the use of required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to remain clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to ensure proper fit of safety equipment.
