About the role#
Marketplace produces business and economic news for more than 12 million listeners. We are looking for a production intern to help us reach new audiences and tell stories across radio and digital platforms. This role focuses on local content initiatives and connecting with listeners nationwide.
What you'll do#
- Deliver content to stations to support our audience.
- Work on local content initiatives, including self-narrated series.
- Identify new sources to expand our reach and relevance.
- Write and deliver local station content and promotional materials.
- Cultivate regular interviews to build audience trust and engagement.
- Prep and produce host interviews and first-person audio essays.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university, or graduation within the past 18 months.
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
- Experience with Adobe Audition or similar digital audio software.
- Experience with digital editing for interviews and tape selection.
- Experience writing for radio or online platforms.
- Experience working on a team to create daily content, such as a college newspaper or radio station.
- Ability to multitask across writing, audio editing, research, and filing copy.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- A self-starting attitude with an appetite for learning radio.
Location & details#
- This is a fully remote position based in the United States.
- The internship runs from January 4, 2027, to June 4, 2027.
- This is a paid position at $20 per hour.
- Benefits include eligibility for sick time, health insurance as required by the ACA, and participation in the APMG retirement plan.
