About the role#
The Marketplace digital team is looking for an intern to support our website and newsletters. You will work with editors, reporters, and producers to keep our site current and engaging. This role offers experience in reporting, writing, homepage curation, and SEO. You will gain insight into the journalism industry while working across our radio and podcasting teams.
What you'll do#
- Source, optimize, and place images into digital stories.
- Research and add links to Marketplace stories.
- Rewrite radio stories into website articles.
- Use SEO best practices to draft headlines.
- Participate in digital team meetings and trainings.
- Pitch, report, and write original articles with your own byline for Marketplace.org.
- Assist with daily website homepage curation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university, or graduation within the past 18 months.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
- Interest in journalism and the intersection of economic news and daily life.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Accountability, proactive mindset, and a focus on solutions.
- Journalism coursework or experience, particularly in digital writing and editing.
- Working knowledge of Content Management Systems, Photoshop, and AP style.
- Experience creating charts, maps, or graphs is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a fully remote position based in the United States.
- The internship term runs from January 4, 2027, to June 4, 2027.
- Compensation is $20.00 per hour.
- Benefits include eligibility for sick time, health insurance as required by the ACA, and the APMG retirement plan.
