About the role#
MPR News is looking for a Producer Fellow to join our team for a full-time, year-long fellowship. This role provides hands-on experience working on live news programs, including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and MN Now. You will help create daily radio content while exploring new ways to reach audiences through social media and video platforms.
What you'll do#
- Pitch segments, locate and contact sources, and book guests.
- Coordinate guest bookings and manage technical requirements for remote studio connections.
- Write promos and scripts, fact-check copy, and deliver content across multiple platforms.
- Direct live broadcasts.
- Contribute to experiments in delivering content through social media, video, and YouTube.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor's degree or at least two years of relevant professional experience in journalism or communications.
- Experience in production, editorial, or broadcast environments.
- Experience with digital audio editing systems and writing for digital platforms.
- Solid news judgment and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team and manage details and deadlines.
- Interest in current events and the media ecosphere.
- Preferred: Experience with Dalet newsroom software, field production, live news programming, and familiarity with Minnesota news stories.
Location & details#
- Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota (On-site).
- Term: January 4, 2027, through December 3, 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: $20 to $23 per hour, based on education and experience.
