About the role#
GM Performance Power Units is looking for a Human Resources Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This role offers a hands-on experience across several HR functions, including talent acquisition, payroll, and general operations. You will work alongside HR professionals on projects that support the development of a Formula 1 power unit. This position is based on-site in Concord, North Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Assist with recruiting and talent acquisition, including coordinating interviews and communicating with candidates.
- Participate in career fairs, intern programming, community outreach, and university recruiting activities.
- Gain exposure to payroll systems, HRIS platforms, timekeeping systems, and payroll reporting tools.
- Assist with payroll preparation and processing by reviewing employee information, time records, and payroll-related documentation.
- Review time and attendance records for accuracy and identify missing or incorrect entries.
- Support the payroll team with audits and reconciliations.
- Help with day-to-day HR programs, projects, and administrative tasks.
- Support new hire onboarding and orientation activities.
- Maintain and update employee records and HR databases while ensuring confidentiality.
- Create HR communications, presentations, reports, and program materials.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
- Interest in working in a start-up organization.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Adaptability to respond to business needs and opportunities.
- Ability to handle multiple projects independently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move in diverse operational environments, including race shops and commercial facilities.
- Comfort working in variable environmental conditions, including loud or high-traffic settings.
