    About the role#

    As the MPR Archive Intern, you will help make historical collections accessible. You will process materials, create metadata, and develop digital collections. This work ensures that catalog records are accurate and complete, making them findable for staff and the public. You will gain experience with archival workflows, digitization, and preservation practices.

    What you'll do#

    • Identify and provide access to historical materials for organizational projects.
    • Inventory and catalog archival materials.
    • Curate a publicly accessible digital collection.
    • Process materials and create finding aids.
    • Ensure catalog records and contents are accurate and complete.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a college or university, or graduation within the past 18 months.
    • Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) during the internship.
    • Basic understanding of foundational archival concepts and digital collections databases.
    • Proficiency with common computer applications.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota.
    • Term: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 (January 4 to June 4, 2027).
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: This is a paid position at $20 per hour.
    • Benefits: Eligible for sick time, health insurance as required by the ACA, and participation in the APMG retirement plan.
