About the role#
We are looking for a News Intern to join our team at WCHS for the Fall 2026 term. This is an opportunity to contribute to local news production and digital storytelling. You will work within a professional newsroom environment to support our daily operations and community coverage.
What you'll do#
- Assist in researching, writing, and producing news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Work alongside reporters, anchors, producers, and photographers in the newsroom and in the field.
- Pitch fresh story ideas to help shape our daily coverage.
- Learn to shoot video and frame visuals.
- Gain exposure to control room operations and the production of live broadcasts.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or a recent graduate.
- At least a sophomore at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, or Media Studies.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Reliable transportation.
- Interest in local news, storytelling, and community impact.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
Location & details#
- This position is located on-site at WCHS in Charleston, West Virginia.
- The internship requires approximately 15 hours of work per week for a duration of 10 weeks.
- This is a paid internship.
