    About the role#

    Allen Control Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Austin, Texas. You will work directly with our engineering team to develop precision robotic systems for defense applications. Interns at our company contribute to real hardware that is built, tested, and fielded.

    What you'll do#

    • Design mechanical systems for turrets that must track and fire accurately in real-world conditions.
    • Perform CAD design, tolerancing, and structural or thermal analysis for hardware.
    • Prototype and test your designs to ensure they perform on the range.
    • Collaborate with electrical and manufacturing teams to move designs from concept to production.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program or a related field.
    • Experience with CAD software like SolidWorks gained through coursework, projects, or clubs such as FSAE or robotics teams.
    • A genuine interest in precision mechanisms, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
    • A hands-on mindset and comfort working in a shop or lab environment.

    • Location: Austin, Texas (on-site).
    • Term: Summer 2027 (approximately 10 to 12 weeks).
    • Employment: Full-time.
    • Compensation: Paid internship with equity package, health, dental, and vision insurance, and paid time off.
