About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern focusing on UX/UI, you will work directly with our engineering and product teams. You will help design and improve the interfaces that connect users to our real-time technology. This includes everything from mobile and embedded applications to internal tools used by our operations teams. You will contribute to the full product development cycle, from initial concepts to final implementation.
What you'll do#
- Design and iterate on user interfaces for Android, tablet, embedded, and internal applications.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity designs.
- Work with engineers to bring designs to life using Jetpack Compose and modern Android UI frameworks.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to understand user needs.
- Design for real-time systems where responsiveness, clarity, and reliability are essential.
- Explore interaction patterns for touchscreens, gamepads, and other input methods.
- Help maintain consistent UI patterns and design systems.
- Participate in user feedback, usability testing, and design reviews.
- Communicate design decisions clearly to technical and non-technical teammates.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Coursework, project, or internship experience in UI/UX design, product design, or front-end development.
- A portfolio or examples of work showing your approach to solving user problems.
- Familiarity with design and prototyping tools like Figma.
- An interest in designing interfaces for technical, real-time, or complex systems.
- Strong attention to detail and an instinct for creating intuitive user experiences.
- A basic understanding of software development concepts and how UI connects to application logic.
- A builder's mindset and a willingness to work closely with engineers.
- Strong communication skills.

- Location: Austin, Texas (on-site).
- Term: Summer 2027 (10 to 12 weeks).
- Employment: Full-time paid internship.
