About the role#
Aecon is looking for a co-op student to join the EHS team in our Toronto office. This role provides hands-on experience supporting environmental, health, and safety initiatives across civil infrastructure projects. You will assist with safety training, compliance, and operational reporting to support our project teams.
What you'll do#
- Provide operational and divisional support to the EHS team.
- Coordinate safety training and orientation sessions.
- Identify safety trends and patterns to help the team stay ahead of potential issues.
- Organize safety-related meetings and events, such as the annual JHSC Summit and Senior Leadership Team meetings.
- Prepare startup packages for projects, including necessary templates and documentation.
- Administer EHS policies, manuals, standards, and procedures.
- Manage the ordering and shipping of supplies for project sites and yard locations.
- Assist with site visits and inspections.
- Monitor statistical data and reports to ensure EHS personnel meet reporting deadlines.
What you'll need#
- You are a current student or recent graduate of an Occupational Health and Safety program.
- Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- You are self-motivated and organized.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Sound judgment and analytical problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Previous experience in the construction industry is an asset.

- Work modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid co-op position.
- You must be willing to travel within the GTA as required.
