About the role#
Aecon is hiring an Engineering Co-op Student for the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project. This is a site-based role in Surrey, British Columbia. You will work with engineers, superintendents, and project teams to gain experience in heavy civil construction. This position covers planning, scheduling, quantity tracking, cost control, and field operations.
What you'll do#
- Conduct site audits and analysis.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for project staff and stakeholders.
- Assist field engineers and superintendents with daily tasks.
- Track quantities and perform productivity analysis.
- Review completed work for quality and accuracy.
- Monitor progress and assist with job cost reports.
- Maintain project files and correspondence.
- Provide technical support to field staff, craft, and subcontractors.
- Assist with the preparation, review, and maintenance of engineering drawings.
- Gather field information to help prepare bills of materials.
- Assist in preparing construction and design estimates.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal departments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related program.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Beginner knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, and materials.
- Experience in construction is an asset.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or Bluebeam is an asset.

- Compensation: Paid position ($23.00 - $25.00 per hour) with overtime eligibility.
