About the role#
This is a 4-month internship for the Winter 2027 term, starting in January. You will manage your own area of responsibility with guidance from a supervisor and technical mentor. This position is full-time and on-site.
What you'll do#
- Support site supervision with the Bird Safety Program.
- Develop site-specific safe work practices, procedures, and hazard assessments alongside project management.
- Conduct and document regular health and safety inspections.
- Follow up on corrective action items and lead incident investigations.
- Monitor safety statistics, records, and accident frequencies.
- Ensure trade contractors follow the Bird Construction HSE program and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate safety meetings and provide site orientations for new workers and visitors.
- Provide first aid assessment and treatment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Health, Safety, and Environment diploma or equivalent program.
- At least one semester of education remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes and work collaboratively.
- A sense of urgency and commitment to goals.
- Legal residency or a valid work permit for Canada.
- A current transcript must be included with your application.
