About the role#
We are looking for a student to join our team for a 4 or 8 month co-op position starting in January 2027. This role is based in Edmonton, Alberta. You will manage your own area of responsibility while receiving support from a supervisor and a technical mentor.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate the supply of tools and track all transfers to and from the yard.
- Load C-cans and assist with shelving modifications.
- Install GPS and signage on equipment.
- Work with the team to repair small equipment like heaters and various tools.
- Gain experience operating heavy equipment, including loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and zoombooms.
- Load and unload trucks and perform parts runs as needed.
- Learn about electrical items such as cables and panels.
- Participate in toolbox meetings and conduct equipment inventory logs.
- Take photos of supplies for the Westrac catalog.
- Perform monthly safety inspections.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Heavy Equipment Technology, Construction Management, or a related program.
- You must have at least one more semester of education remaining after your internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships.
- A sense of urgency and a commitment to achieving goals.
- Legal residency or a valid work permit.
- Basic knowledge of construction, equipment, and tool handling is an asset.
- You may be required to complete a pre-employment medical or drug and alcohol test.
