About the role#
Bird Construction is seeking a student for a full-time co-op position in Sudbury, Ontario. This role begins in January 2027 for an 8 or 12 month term. You will manage specific areas of responsibility while receiving guidance from a supervisor and technical mentor.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings and manage specific work scopes or trades.
- Review trade quotes to verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct deficiency walks.
- Update deficiency logs and issue warranties.
- Take progress photos and maintain project records.
- Produce as-built drawings and update field drawings.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and verify site conditions.
- Coordinate and supervise sub-trade work.
- Layout site lines and grades using a total station.
- Create and update project schedules, including manual and graphical formats.
- Monitor manpower productivity and obtain scheduling data from sub-trades.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Industrial Engineering program.
- Completion of at least one more semester of school following this internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships.
- A sense of urgency and a commitment to achieving goals.
- Residency or a valid work permit allowing you to work for Bird Construction.
- A current transcript must be included with your application.
