About the role#
Bird Construction is seeking a Student HSE Coordinator for an 8-12 month co-op position starting in January 2027. This role provides an opportunity to manage specific project responsibilities while receiving support from a supervisor and technical mentor. You will work on-site in Regina, Saskatchewan, as part of a full-time internship.
What you'll do#
- Support site supervision with the implementation and management of the Bird Safety Program.
- Develop site-specific safe work practices, procedures, and hazard assessments.
- Conduct health and safety inspections, document findings, and post results.
- Follow up on corrective actions and lead or participate in workplace incident investigations.
- Maintain safety statistics, records, and monitor incident frequencies.
- Ensure trade contractors comply with the Bird Construction HSE program and regulatory requirements.
- Lead or participate in safety meetings.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities to promote job site safety.
- Provide site-specific orientations to workers and visitors.
- Perform first aid assessments and provide treatment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Health, Safety, and Environment diploma or equivalent program.
- Completion of at least one semester of education following the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to lead and operate in changing environments.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- A sense of urgency and commitment to achieving goals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude.
- Legal residency or a valid work permit for Canada.
- A current transcript must be included with your application.
