About the role#
This position supports the anatomy laboratory at Wake Forest University Health Sciences in Charlotte. You will assist faculty and staff with laboratory operations while providing peer-level support to first-year medical students. This is a part-time role requiring up to 5 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist with lab setup, including the placement of plastinated specimens, models, and other resources.
- Move, rotate, and organize anatomical specimens and laboratory materials.
- Provide peer support to MS1 students during group activities and open lab sessions.
- Follow safety procedures for specimen handling, body mechanics, and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Communicate scheduling and availability to faculty and staff.
- Track and submit hours worked according to institutional procedures.
- Complete all required onboarding and safety training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a second-year medical student at WFUSM-CLT in good academic and professional standing.
- Successful completion of all required MS1 anatomy coursework.
- Comfort working directly with anatomical specimens, models, and plastinates.
- Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and other lab assistants.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Prior experience in tutoring, mentoring, or laboratory logistics is preferred.
- Interest in fields such as surgery, radiology, or medical education.
