About the role#
This is a part-time, temporary internship focused on the history of the Twin Cities Japanese American Citizens League. You will research organizational records spanning 80 years to document key events and individuals. The position runs from January 19, 2027, to August 29, 2027, with a requirement of 8 to 15 hours per week. You will also participate in three in-person professional development seminars and give a final presentation of your work.
What you'll do#
- Research archival records held at the Minnesota History Center, the Gale Family Library, and the East Side Freedom Library.
- Compile a historical timeline of the organization.
- Create deliverables such as a written report, a visual display, or a digital version of the timeline for public use.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- A degree or current studies in History, Historic Preservation, Asian American Studies, or Journalism.
- Experience with archival research.
- An interest in Asian American history.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

- Location: St Paul, Minnesota.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $17.02 per hour.
- Schedule: Flexible 5-hour shifts on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
