About the role#
The Public Relations Intern assists the communications team with daily operations, special events, and project execution. This role involves completing tactics for public relations plans and creating content to support the organization's mission. The position is based at the Youth Villages Operations Center in Bartlett, Tennessee, with flexible hours to accommodate school schedules.
What you'll do#
- Assist with media coverage round-ups and distribution.
- Interview and write content for family stories and staff spotlights.
- Support the team with media opportunities and on-site events.
- Take photos at internal and external events as needed.
- Maintain and support the creation of media lists and databases.
- Assist with internal reports for the board of directors and general administrative duties.
- Monitor media for relevant coverage.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in bachelor-level or higher studies in public relations, journalism, communications, or public health (or a completed degree in these fields).
- Successful completion of a newswriting course or equivalent experience in PR or newswriting.
- Proficiency in English grammar, punctuation, Associated Press style, and proofreading.
- High degree of computer skills, including word processing, database management, and desktop publishing.
- Ability to manage multiple agendas with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
- Strong teamwork skills.
