About the role#
This internship position with the SPS Policy Team offers the opportunity to gain experience in regulatory filings for energy infrastructure. You will work in Amarillo, Texas, supporting the development of data and documentation for Generation and Transmission Certificates of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) filings. This role involves collaboration with diverse teams to manage regulatory projects across Texas and New Mexico.
What you'll do#
- Research policies and rules in New Mexico and Texas related to CCN filings.
- Prepare maps, tables, and charts to support regulatory filings, including Service Area Exceptions (SAE), 440 large project notifications, and Minor Boundary Adjustments (MBA).
- Assist in the development of support materials such as affidavits.
- Manage large data files for Regulatory and Subject Matter Expert teams.
- Review, edit, and format draft documents for regulatory filing.
- Assist in the online filing of documents for Commission review.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher at an accredited college or university as of Fall 2027.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Management, Political Science, Business Administration, Pre-Law, Utility Administration, Finance, Government, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills and high attention to detail.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.

- Location: Amarillo, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Schedule: Full-time (up to 40 hours per week) during the summer, with potential for part-time hours during the school year.
- Compensation: Paid position with an anticipated starting base pay of $19.30 to $24.50 per hour.
