About the role#
As an Occupational Health & Safety Intern at Xcel Energy, you will perform meaningful work to support our Corporate Safety team. This role involves active participation in program development, risk assessments, and exposure monitoring. You will gain hands-on experience by using measurement devices, identifying potential hazards, and assisting in the implementation of safety controls like PPE and engineering solutions.
What you'll do#
- Support Corporate Safety programs through written revisions and development.
- Conduct or assist with routine workplace inspections to identify unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Document hazards and track corrective action plans.
- Assist with enterprise project-specific programs, internal processes, and management software.
- Create safety materials including presentations, posters, and training guides.
- Help roll out safety initiatives such as Near Miss reporting and Safety Always campaigns.
- Communicate safety messages to employees through meetings, emails, or events.
- Support AI initiatives and development applications.
- Conduct safety and health training sessions.
What you'll need#
- You are a current student, Freshman or higher, as of Fall 2027.
- You are enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- You are pursuing a degree in supply chain, marketing, business administration, human resources, public health, or a related field like advertising, labor relations, public relations, government relations, or legal and regulatory compliance.
- You have an interest in the energy industry and its future.

- This is a full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based in Henderson, Colorado.
