About the role#
We are looking for interns to join the Generation Development Team. You will support the planning of new construction projects for electrical generating assets across our service territories. This role offers the chance to help define the future of power at Xcel Energy.
What you'll do#
- Assist in siting new generation locations.
- Support the analysis and selection of equipment.
- Perform financial estimating and cost analysis.
- Develop strategies for risk management.
- Support regulatory filings and submittals.
- Help create new processes and tools for project management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore or higher as of Fall 2027.
- Pursuing a degree in an Engineering or Technical field at an ABET accredited college or university.
- Interest in generating technologies such as solar, wind, battery storage, and combustion turbines.
- Interest in project management techniques and emerging energy technologies.
Location & details#
- Locations: Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid, with expectations to work onsite as required by the business.
- Schedule: Full-time during the summer, with the possibility of part-time hours during the school year.
- Travel: Occasional travel to other Xcel Energy sites and generating facilities may be required.
