About the role#
Xcel Energy is looking for interns to join the CFO Organization. You will work within the Financial Data Governance, Data Visualization, or Process Automation teams. These groups improve business processes and technology solutions across the company. You will help gather and analyze data, create visual insights, manage dashboards, and support automation projects that replace manual work. You will work alongside cross-functional teams, IT partners, and internal stakeholders.
What you'll do#
- Support system administrators for financial and accounting systems.
- Maintain and update financial master data.
- Document procedures, process guides, and supporting materials to ensure consistency.
- Access, manage, transfer, integrate, and analyze complex datasets.
- Develop and manage automation projects.
- Collaborate with team members and internal business stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current student with Junior status or higher as of Fall 2027.
- Enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related technology or business field.
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency with data analytics tools and strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience with SQL, Python, Claude, MS Office, and Power Platform.
- Interest in the energy and utility sector.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining data accuracy.
Location & details#
- Locations: Denver, CO; Minneapolis, MN; or Eau Claire, WI.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Schedule: Full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.
- Requirements: Must be able to commute to the work location in-person.
