About the role#
The Asset Strategy & Budget Integration team manages how Xcel Energy plans and invests in its power generation fleet. This group uses data and analytics to prioritize maintenance and overhaul work to improve reliability while managing costs. This internship offers exposure to the tools and processes that drive these business decisions.
What you'll do#
- Support and improve the tools and models used for five-year budgeting and forecast planning.
- Build new AI powered tools to reduce the workload of project submittals.
- Assist in the work assessment and scope-scoring process to prioritize maintenance across the fleet.
- Validate scoring inputs for accuracy using operations data and performance analytics.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Junior standing or higher as of Fall 2027.
- Experience using AI models is preferred.

- Location: Henderson, Colorado.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time during the summer, with hybrid work modality.
