About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Structural Engineering Intern for our Herndon, Virginia office. This role provides hands-on experience working alongside senior staff on real projects. You will gain exposure to technical, social, and ethical aspects of the profession while participating in our Developing Professionals Network.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks.
- Learn basic principles of structural engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct, and make responsible decisions regarding resources.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate, masters, or PhD program in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Demonstrated interest in structural engineering.
- Competent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to take direction from managers and mentors.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.

- Compensation: $19 - $30 per hour.
