About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Mining Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This 12-week program allows you to work alongside senior staff on real projects. You will gain hands-on experience and participate in mentorship and networking opportunities through our Developing Professionals Network.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to build your technical and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of Mining Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Conduct desktop studies regarding geology, mine stability, excavation, and minerals processing.
- Help prepare technical reports on client resources and reserves for industry requirements such as SK-1300, NI-43-101, and JORC.
- Support the creation of design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Maintain project documentation and complete assigned training modules.
- Adhere to the WSP Code of Conduct and exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program in Mining Engineering or a related field, with a graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and general technology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow direction from managers and mentors.
- A proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Preferred: Prior internship experience, campus leadership involvement, or experience in materials testing.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, paid internship.
- Locations: Lakewood, CO; St. Louis, MO; or Tucson, AZ.
- The program is scheduled to start on May 17, 2027, though individual start dates may be flexible.
- Occasional travel may be required based on project needs.
- No relocation or housing assistance is provided.
