About the role#
This is a full-time, 12-week internship starting May 17, 2027. You will work within the Geotechnical and Tunneling Team in the New York, NY office. You will gain experience in geotechnical and tunnel engineering while working under the supervision of senior staff. The role involves office-based tasks and potential field work. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance provided for this position.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop your technical and professional skills.
- Learn the basic principles of geotechnical engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Adhere to company policies, including the Code of Conduct, and manage company resources responsibly.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field, with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Interest in geotechnical engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Competent communication skills and the ability to take direction from leadership and mentors.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to follow health, safety, and harassment policies.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Masters or PhD program in a related field with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office and discipline-specific design software.
- Preferred: Prior internship experience or campus leadership involvement.
