Job Description: RESPEC seeks a Student Civil Engineer Intern located in our Anchorage, AK office. This position will be part of our 2026 Summer Internship Program. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience with a growing North American engineering consulting firm. This hands-on design position is within RESPEC’s Transportation Market Sector. Our civil engineering intern will work alongside our firm’s full-time employees to learn how professional services are provided to our clients. Our experienced staff will provide mentoring and coaching to our interns to allow development of civil engineering skills and knowledge. Interns will get exposed to our clients, job sites, and Alaskan communities, as well as collaborate with our RESPEC multi-discipline team on public and private sector clients. Additional responsibilities include:Assist with design workPerform calculations and simulationsResearch topics as assignedAssist with field inspectionsWe do not accept unsolicited resumes from third-party recruiters.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have the following:Pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineeringPreferred qualifications include the following:Solid time management skills and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in an efficient mannerAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsInterest in designing various kinds of civil engineering features (roads, underground utilities, site grading, paving, storm drainage)Good working knowledge of fundamental of civil engineering conceptsSelf-motivated and detail-orientedStrong problem-solving and math skills Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingExperience with reading, analyzing, and interpreting plan setsAbility to work quickly and efficientlyTeam player who strives to provide quality workProficient in using Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel) Some proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
